Joyce D'Vision vs Yamaha Keyboard

Cross-post from Niallism

So Joyce D'Vision played a set at David Hoyle's Beachy Head last night - unfortunately Noel Order's keyboard kept cutting out, leading to an unexpected turn of events. Here is the story in pictures:

Uh oh...

Twinks vs Bears

Thankfully, this is not a problem we have experienced here at Menergy Towers, being as we are a shining beacon of across-the-spectrum homosexual lifeforms in unity. But we are thankful to the ever-vigilant Christwire for bringing it to our attention. Seriously, if you have never read Christwire, check it out. It's genius.

Twinks Versus Bears: How Vicious Infighting Threatens to Undermine the Homosexual Agenda’s United Front

The ultimate endgame of the homosexual agenda in America is once again coming under fire. This time, however, the attacks are being organized from within. Years of cultural and political successes have made the community of same-sex adherents greedy and egomaniacal. They have had major victories with the redefinition of marriage in several states, liberalized adoption laws, special rights in the workplace, the emasculation of our educational policies and Obama’s imminent federalized protection of male-on-male intercourse in the military. While their greatest challenge continues to be the passionate work of Christian advocates, homosexuals are now engaged in a vicious battle with each other over the direction of their radical movement. This festering conflict will surely shatter any illusion of a “united homosexual front” and is thrilling news for supporters of traditional morality.

The two main camps in this ferocious fight are the “Twinks” and the “Bears.” These terms are quite common in the catty world of gay vernacular and define not just physical appearance, but economic status and social beliefs as well. For years now these two groups have been vying for territory in bars and vacation hotspots across the country. Now they are wrestling for dominance on a national scale. Their shrill debates on the topic are sprayed out all over the blogosphere on a daily basis. Ultimately, both seek to be the final arbiter of what it means to be homosexual in America today.

Countdown to the LAST VIC PARTY #1 - Black Devil Disco Club ft Nancy Sinatra FREE DOWNLOAD

Yes, those lovely people at Lo Recordings have allowed us to give away to our readers the current single by the amazing Black Devil Disco Club, featuring none other than drag heroine Nancy Sinatra! The queen of boots and the king of electodisco - both long time favourites of Menergy - what is there not to like?

Taken from the currently available "To Ardent" EP, this is a radio edit of the excellent remix by Grosvenor. Other remixes on the EP come from Logo, Vitamin Wig C and our good pals Horse Meat Disco. To hear the rest of the single (and to buy it, hint hint) go here - but for now whet your appetite with this free track:

Countdown to the LAST VIC PARTY #2 - Controversy!

Following on the high heels of last month's web-storm around Niall's article on Dangerous Minds, it would seem that Lady Munter herself is no surprise to her fair share of controversy (surprise!).

After giving her opinion on Twitter about a documentary and interviews of former child antique dealer/cherubic boy James Harries (who became transsexual Lauren Harries), she hunted Lady M down on Twitter to have a go! :-D

If you are vain enough to Google yourself daily then you'd better be prepared for what comes up. And perhaps by actually listening to the reasons that people dislike you Lauren, you could learn from them as opposed to doing nothing for your reputation by doing things like this, eh?

Anyway, if you want a laugh and an insight into the strange world of Lauren Harries, watch below. It's like an episode of The League of Gentlemen, no joke.

Check out this great MSN video: Little Lady Fauntleroy , Series 01, Episode 01

Also worth checking is this GREAT interview with her conducted by the legendary David Hoyle. It gets hairy.

Also, for anyone with any doubt that MENERGY is the ONLY place to be this Saturday, then you'll be interested to know that The List have earmarked us as one of the hitlisted events of the month! You KNOW you'll regret missing it.

Niall says:

David Hoyle (aka The Divine David) is one of our all time heroes here at Menergy. This confrontation between him and Harries (and the Keith Allen Little Lady Fauntelroy film linked above that) should tell you everything you need to know about why we dislike Lauren.

Lauren Harries is not fit to be a spokesperson or a representative of ANYONE except herself. Who elected her to speak on behalf of trans-PEOPLE (yes PEOPLE)? She's self-serving, desperate, arrogant and ignorant. Just watch this clip - if you were a member of the trans-community would you really want her speaking on your behalf?

Countdown to the LAST VIC PARTY #4 - Born This Way

Now I know Niall isn't her biggest fan - but then again he isn't a drag queen - but everyone's favourite faux queen LADY GAGA released her third album, BORN THIS WAY, yesterday to stellar reviews, and I've gotta say, personally I already find it to be a stronger and more cohesive album than The Fame & The Fame Monster.

Standout tracks - asides from singles 'Born This Way', 'Judas' & 'The Edge of Glory' - are 'Heavy Metal Lover', 'Fashion of his Will' (a tribute to the late, great Alexander McQueen), 'Americano', 'Government Hooker' and the one that seems to be everyone's favourite, the theme to the fall 2010 Mugler menswear show, 'Scheisse'. Demand to hear this last track at the next MENERGY has been huge, so we feel it's only appropriate to respect our queens' wishes. ;-)

Countdown to the LAST VIC PARTY #5 - Beyoncé runs the World

OK so Born This Way comes out today, but I'm over that already. It's STILL all about Beyoncé for me, much to Munter's disapproval. And this performance at the Billboard Awards shows why she is a complete GODDESS! Even Gaga agrees, gushing about the power of B in the opening segment.

Who runs the world? BEYONCÉ!

Countdown to the LAST VIC PARTY #10 - Vanity speaks at IDAHO vigil

We're very proud of oor Vanity Von Glow for speaking at last night's International Day Against Homophobia vigil on the steps of the Buchanan Galleries! Well done too to Stewart McDonald and Nancy Lashes (pics by Michael James, natch). We'd like to think it's our sister's fierceness that influenced Hillary Clinton to back IDAHO. She made this statement:

"In every part of the world, men and women are persecuted and attacked because of who they are or whom they love. Homophobia, transphobia and the brutal hostility associated with them are often rooted in a lack of understanding of what it actually means to be lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender (LGBT). So to combat this terrible scourge and break the cycle of fear and violence, we must work together to improve education and support those who stand up against laws that criminalize love and promote hate. As we mark the International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia this May 17, let us resolve to redouble our efforts."

There's more info on IDAHO here on the offical website, let's make EVERY day an international day against homophobia!

Raja WINS RuPaul's Drag Race Season 3!!

RAJA GEMINI, the queen that the House of Menergy was rooting for all along RuPaul's Drag Race season 3 has WON!!

Her crown was WELL deserved, as she represented charisma, uniqueness, nerve AND talent - all the qualities that America's Next Drag Superstar needs to possess! And finally the crown has been won by a queen that represents a rawer, more alternative side to drag than just pomp and pageantry.

MENERGY's Official Facebook Profile

That's right, MENERGY now has an official Facebook profile, as opposed to just a 'fan page'. Befriend us now, here!
