Meet Cherie Lily, the fantabulous faux-queen-meets-dance-instructor wife of modern rock icon Andrew WK. Oh yes, we love this gurl here at Menergy! Her latest single "WERK" is quickly becoming anthem and it's not hard to hear why - it's a modern call to arms for dancers and drag queens to VOGUE THE FUCK OUT!

Cheers to everyone who came down to the Vic on Saturday, that was one of the best Menergies yet! Here's a couple of anthems form the night, tried and tested on the Menergy dancefloor. We've posted these before in different contexts, but here they are as official anthems:

Seriously though, this was one of the first records I ever bought, I got the 7" when I was about 9 years old. Sadly it got left out in the sun and melted, but it's still an awesome track! This extended mix is by William Orbit and Mark Moore of S'Express, fact fans.

A Kid Zipper favourite, from the late 70's vampire-disco-comedy Love At First Bite. I found a copy for 50p on the Isle or Wight - win!

Menergy Anthem: "Crocodiles in the Sky (Fred Ventura & Colombo Remix)" Parallax Corporation

This disco gem seems to have been overlooked by history, but that's what Menergy is all about. That and being cheap. Parallax Corporation are none other than Italo behemoths I-F and Intergalactic Gary, and this remix featuring vocals by Italo pioneer Fred Ventura, will make you swoon. Almost as much as I-F's beautiful eyes.

As featured on the Niallist's Super Macho Mix and as dropped by Jon Pleased Wimmin at Hyperpride, this has now attained certified anthem status!

More classy Norse disco, this time a cover of the 80s pop classic by top Viking songstrel Annie, remixed to perfection by Italo obsessed oddbod Skatebaard. Love it!

Menergy Anthem: "Momma's Place" by Róisín Murphy

We love Róisín! She's sexy, stylish and mad as a brush - not to mention being Irish. There doesn't seem to be a video for her latest single Momma's Place yet, so here's a Youtube clip of the track. It's trés very, sounding like an hommage to "Domino Dancing"-era Pet Shop Boys. How Menergy!



As it that song wasn't fab enough, Róisín has just launched a new sunglasses design (below) in conjunction with the designer Linda Farrow. According to Róisín's fanblog, "the sunglasses are based on a classic half moon cat eye and are made of titanium and coated in 24 carat gold." FIERCE!!

Prins Thomas' label is churning out some seriously hot Nordic noise at the moment. These are the Kid Zipper faves, including Menergy favourite Magnus International. It's come up o'clock in Oslo.

This has been played at every Menergy so far to a generally ecstatic reception. I think that qualifies it as a "Menergy Anthem"!

Menergy Anthem: “Amittyville Frenzy” by Lalo Schifrin

Horror -disco ahoy! This is the disco version of Lalo Schifrin's theme to the movie "The Amittyville Horror". As this was the first track on the soundtrack LP and did not feature in the film itself, we can only assume it was a tasteless cash-in. Kerrrr-ching!
