AND COME TO THE ART SCHOOL - TONIGHT!!

Countdown to the LAST VIC PARTY #1 - Black Devil Disco Club ft Nancy Sinatra FREE DOWNLOAD

Yes, those lovely people at Lo Recordings have allowed us to give away to our readers the current single by the amazing Black Devil Disco Club, featuring none other than drag heroine Nancy Sinatra! The queen of boots and the king of electodisco - both long time favourites of Menergy - what is there not to like?

Taken from the currently available "To Ardent" EP, this is a radio edit of the excellent remix by Grosvenor. Other remixes on the EP come from Logo, Vitamin Wig C and our good pals Horse Meat Disco. To hear the rest of the single (and to buy it, hint hint) go here - but for now whet your appetite with this free track:

Countdown to the LAST VIC PARTY #2 - Controversy!

Following on the high heels of last month's web-storm around Niall's article on Dangerous Minds, it would seem that Lady Munter herself is no surprise to her fair share of controversy (surprise!).

After giving her opinion on Twitter about a documentary and interviews of former child antique dealer/cherubic boy James Harries (who became transsexual Lauren Harries), she hunted Lady M down on Twitter to have a go! :-D

If you are vain enough to Google yourself daily then you'd better be prepared for what comes up. And perhaps by actually listening to the reasons that people dislike you Lauren, you could learn from them as opposed to doing nothing for your reputation by doing things like this, eh?

Anyway, if you want a laugh and an insight into the strange world of Lauren Harries, watch below. It's like an episode of The League of Gentlemen, no joke.

Check out this great MSN video: Little Lady Fauntleroy , Series 01, Episode 01

Also worth checking is this GREAT interview with her conducted by the legendary David Hoyle. It gets hairy.

Also, for anyone with any doubt that MENERGY is the ONLY place to be this Saturday, then you'll be interested to know that The List have earmarked us as one of the hitlisted events of the month! You KNOW you'll regret missing it.

***EDIT***

Niall says:

David Hoyle (aka The Divine David) is one of our all time heroes here at Menergy. This confrontation between him and Harries (and the Keith Allen Little Lady Fauntelroy film linked above that) should tell you everything you need to know about why we dislike Lauren.

Lauren Harries is not fit to be a spokesperson or a representative of ANYONE except herself. Who elected her to speak on behalf of trans-PEOPLE (yes PEOPLE)? She's self-serving, desperate, arrogant and ignorant. Just watch this clip - if you were a member of the trans-community would you really want her speaking on your behalf?

Countdown to the LAST VIC PARTY #5 - Beyoncé runs the World

OK so Born This Way comes out today, but I'm over that already. It's STILL all about Beyoncé for me, much to Munter's disapproval. And this performance at the Billboard Awards shows why she is a complete GODDESS! Even Gaga agrees, gushing about the power of B in the opening segment.

Who runs the world? BEYONCÉ!

Countdown to the LAST VIC PARTY #7 - Lady Munter Interviewed by The List

In the run-up to the closure of the Art School, The List magazine interviewed Lady Munter and other key figures associated with the venue to get their opinion on the closure.

Read it here.

Countdown to the LAST VIC PARTY #8 - Slutwalk & Slutty Friday

Callin all SLUTS! We need your help to show solidarity with our sisters - don your trashiest rags and join the House of Menergy on the Glasgow Slutwalk! This is a parade through Glasgow city centre to show that women should be allowed to wear WHATEVER THE HELL THEY LIKE wihtout fear of rape, attack or abuse. For far too long women have been blamed for "causing rape" - which is complete bullshit. So on Saturday the 4th of June don your trash rags and come JOIN US!! Click the link above for more info...

Here's something to get you in the mood - thanks to Steven Hall of Arthur's Landing for this:

Countdown to MENERGY @ The Vic Bar Part 5: Download Sam Sparro's "Pink Cloud" EP for free

Critical reaction to Sam Sparro's recent single has been mixed, but I like it. In fact, fuck it, I think he's a great artist. "Black and Gold" is awesome modern synth-pop, and his new direction positively SCREAMS bitch house! He even has some voguing in the Pink Cloud video:

Sam is offering up the Pink Cloud EP for free to his fans if you subscribe to the mailing list (icon thingy below - just click on it). It's worth it, cos not only do you get the gorgeous retro 90's house track above, but you get three remixes AND THIS BELTER:

As always, HUGE thanks to our resident in-house graphic designer Gregor Laird for this!

Countdown to MENERGY @ The Vic Bar pt 14

Two weeks to go to our Arty residency and we're starting a countdown! Consider this to be like the 12 days of Christmas, only gayer. There'll be a new post on the blog each day, and some very special musical treats lied up for you along the way.

Let's kick things off with an amazing pic of Manchester's own Zsa Zsa Noir. Zsa Zsa is going to be our very special guest at March's Menergy! She won Femme Realness at Vogue Brawl and we have posted her feroche vid "Hey Lean Diggy Doggy" before. This fierce bitch will be coming up to perform live, alongside DJs from Pumping Iron. The usual Menergy rezzies will be in too - Lady M, Vanity VG, Kid Zipper and the Niallist.
